Welcome to the 2025 Festival of Social Science

The festival explores the world of social science, from how society has shaped our local areas to behaviours that help fight climate change. This year a number of our events will focus on our working lives, exploring the relationship between humans and digital technology.

The festival runs from Saturday 18 October to Saturday 8 November 2025.

Learn more about the Economic and Social Research Council

The Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) is part of UK Research and Innovation, a non-departmental public body funded by the UK government.

Our mission is to ensure the greatest public benefit from social science. We are an active steward, helping create a flourishing ecosystem, nourishing its intellectual roots and working with partners to identify the most pressing societal challenges and build national capacity to address them.

We support world-leading research, data and postgraduate training across the economic, behavioural, social and data sciences, helping us better understand people and the world around us. Visit ESRC’s website to learn more about the insights we are providing.
